**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

yes, you need to order 2 dozen eggs.. when they send extras (that won't fit) you will need a new bator.. naturally you can't incubate just a few eggs in it.. so you'll have to order at least 4 dozen... and with extras you will need a fourth bator... naturally you can't just leave it with only a few eggs... so you'll have to order more

yes.. this is the hotdog and bun scenario.. there's never enough of one or the other.. so you must continue to buy them until it balances out... which in chicken math that = never!

That's not chicken math. That's chicken calculus. And you're good! NotaFarm too.

I've been trying to catch up all day and I'm just now getting done. Good news is the hatch under my 3rd game broody is over and I have 5 fluffy yellow chicks slated for the feed store soon.

How you feeling Raz? ISnt someone else prego too? Gosh if I had brains I would be dangerous!
Pretty good considering how much he moves!

Quote: I think the last time I mentioned it was during the Easter hatch, but I am! I'm on my last month and 2 weeks, so this is my next to last hatch until after SJ is born. Then it's back to business as usual!

here's one of the duck eggs I cracked open:

I didn't bother to try to keep it since it hadn't been turned.. but this had been sitting on the counter for about a week or so (the cats had rolled it back behind a cannsiter that I rarely used.. so he had been there for a bit .. not 100% sure)..he was alive and well until I ended his poor little life...

Awwwwwww! Poor baby!!!

.. I may have to get some from you later on after your orders have been filled

Better get your order in NOW. I seem to always have a wait list on the calls.

Broke down and bought a second incubator for the surprise batch of eggs I received yesterday. I feel like I've officially gone over to the dark side.

Only problem: The box says this incubator holds 50 eggs and I only have 27 to put in it... No, No, No. Stop thinking like that!

don't feel bad.. I have broken so many toes just by walking across the floor... from the time I was 12 til 16 I had broken almost every bone in my body (extremely accident prone and had brittle bones...)
I don't even want to try to count how many times I've broken fingers & toes.

I told my husband about the cabinet incubator.. his reply.. "who?.. what?.. ME??"

I believe you said you also have muscovies???..if so.. how much would you want for a dozen or so?.. and what color are yours?

Quote: I think I might have to or I'm going to be puking all night, do you think the chicks that are in the brooder, are going to expire from the smell, I still think I might hurl
I think the chicks will be fine....................you on the other hand might want to go out to dinner, LOL

Quote: Yes and it was right when I got home from work, I was gagging the whole time. we are not talking regular duck eggs, 35 DAY OLD ROTTEN blackened green goop, I should have taken a picture to share maybe it would have been like smellivision

My Pyr needed to go out and the old man took her out, she even took a double look, smelled and ran out the door, now that is sad

My silly scovies haven't decided to fork over the eggs yet, but they just came out of the little quarantine cage in the basement last week & went out to the pen. So give them a little time to settle in & hopefully they will be handing them over soon. I have a white trio, a chocolate pied hen, a black pied pair & a barred pied hen. They all run together & the black pied drake is a bit young to do anything yet so everyone is covered by the white drake at the moment. I know the 1 white hen & the chocolate pied are under a year old so probably aren't ready to lay yet, but the older white hen, the black pied & the barred pied should be laying any time. Hard to tell what colors may pop up because all of them came from multi-colored flocks (2 separate flocks, so different bloodlines to mix).

Quote: I say you keep the three together and buy 6 more eggs and split the four that hatch, which is still uneven, so, you buy 12 more eggs and split the 9 that hatch, which is still not even, so, you buy.......kinda like the unfilled incubator and hotdog/bun situation mentioned earlier.........and the song that doesn't end, Yes, it goes on and on my friend. Some people started......
