**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

Great shot and I love the reflections.
So jealous of everyone with mountains
#1 You better post pictures. I am having poult withdrawal after candling this morning. So jealous of you all that are hatching some already. ;) #2. Lucky you. Just love the looks of the slates. So pretty even as poults!
Hmmm... what was I going to say here?
I love it!!!! I picked up Bourbon Red eggs today. I have some Welsummer eggs, that are supposed to be here tomorrow, so I will put them all in after I get the mail. Also, if I bought 3 eggs and my friend bought 3 eggs, and only 3 hatch, how do we decide who gets what?
Easy.. you get roo and pullet, she tats the leftovers.
Give me your address and I will help you out by sending you the egg shell and the paper towels I used to clean it up with.

There's an egg bomb none of us want.
Hi everyone! I did not set any eggs so I don't think I can officially join this hatchathon but is it okay if I just follow along to learn as much as I can? I will be like a sponge. Just quietly soaking up all the information! :)
Don't know how much you will learn, but your sure to get several laughs.
I can't believe the poetry contest is over. Didn't it just start? Ack, I'm always a day late. Well I've got one anyways. Here goes: If wishes were chicks, then chicks there would be. One chick or two, two chicks, no three. The brooder would fill, and the coops would be brimming. Feeders would need filling, and wings would need trimming. I do not need wishing, However they're free. I have bred with abandon, Hatched with great glee. My property overflowing, With hens and with roos. My basement, bedroom,and even the loo. So I will just save those wishes for later. And head to the budoir, To check the incubator.
Awesome!
I have a hatch with Blue Egg Layers from the UofArkansas hatching today. I was checking on them and found Ducklings hatching in the second Genesis Incubator: Blue Egg layers and a Bantam: Little Duckling:
how precious. Ok...now whaat happened to the wild turkey post? I was going to comment that tom had a perfect tail. also... I have several eggs in lockdown therefore will finally have open spots in my bator. Anyone want to egg bomb me with dark Brahma, favorelle or more turkey? Off to look at debs available eggs.

I was just given a Leahy 416 incubator. The cord was cracked so I replaced it and it fired right up. I am trying to set the temp right now and it seems to adjust well. I just have to figure out how to run it. It looks like I can roll the eggs by pulling out the handles in the racks. Does anyone have experience with a 416? My two foam bators are full and I would like to start using this redwood beauty. Thanks Pat

My TSC chick days ended this past thurs night. I went into maybe scoop up the remaining ducklings and everything was taken down. I thought that was a fast chick days. their bins were pretty much empty since it started. I was a little dissapointed, kind of relieved though since I didnt come home with arm loads of chicks and ducklings lol.

Well done!

I just realized I never posted this picture on this thread. This was my natural egg art for the Easter Hatch. I call it "Homage to the 2nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch"

Also this thread needs more turkey pictures.
My Cinco De Mayo Hatch last year:
Touring the front yard;

Crashing the party;

Inspecting the roses;

Invading the horse barn;

and routine bouts of gang fighting.

Fairly beat up, but proud papas.

VERY nice! My boys have just started 'fighting' but it's some sort of weird neck dance...no real brutality. I'm glad, of course, but the tails are somehow starting to look awful, and I haven't witnessed anything that would cause that.

It was the grosses thing I've ever seen and smelt, now I know what death smells like. The problem is I was going to turn eggs, add water and lock down the soveys hatching this weekend, I had to have the incubator open a while, I noticed a lot of pipping going on, I misted the sides and the trays, removed stinky tray and cleaned up the bottom best I could. Will this shrink wrap the duckies, I've never hatched ducks before and thought they weren't going to hatch until late sunday, they had different plans. Will they be alright

I had one explode on me last year, and it got in my hair and on my arms. It BURNED! My hair wouldn't come clean even with a vinegar soak. I finally remembered vodka kills smells on things that are bacteria-based. It's safe for the incubator, too, with no residual toxins. You could spray it in there and leave it open for a few minutes, and around the room like air-freshener. My grama used it as an air freshener with her mastiffs...it was around her house in abundance, anyway!! Remember, this is the lady who gets in brawls over men in the old folks' home cafeteria...

The eggs should be fine. We worry too much about opening the incubator when shrink wrap is usually caused by other things.

X2. I never consider shrink-wrap. I feel the membrane effaces when it's ready, and sometimes they don't get to that point. After all, the membrane is alway tight around them.

Ron you are the best at the digest

LUCKYLUCKYLUCKYLUCKYLUCKY!!!!!

Mind you, in my head, that's a loop of Napoleon Dynamite saying that...but seriously!!! How awesome to find one of those!!!

No experience with one here, but that's only because they're so rare I've never seen one in real life...
