"Second Earth found" what do you guys think of this?

The only reason there is no life on other planets is because Chuck Norris killed all the aliens with one fist.

But I do think there is life on the new planet. Just like there is a secret necular base on the moon, I believe it.

DARN YOU. I was gonna post this article.

My first thought: Holy cow, in the habitable zone and ONLY 2.4 times Earth's size?! That's amazing!

My second thought: What an astounding waste of time and money. It's SIX HUNDRED FREAKING LIGHT-YEARS AWAY. If I'm not mistaken, Einstein said that the max speed of an object would be somewhere around 97% of the speed of light, and even that would require ludicrous amounts of energy (read: way more than could reasonably be produced by an on-board power system). Which means that any voyage to said planet would require well over 600 years of travel. I'm not seeing any chances of ever visiting this place. Even if we DID have the tech to somehow get to this planet, what if the atmosphere was toxic, a very distinct possibility? Heck, even if it were habitable, the logistics of colonizing it would be insane - and we don't even know if it has any resources.

I'm assuming that last sentence was a joke.

If there were any sentient aliens on this planet, and we had the tech and the need to colonize the planet, I would advocate beating them to a pulp if they got in the way, because I'm a human specieist like that.

Fortunately, the chances of alien life are slim to none, let alone SENTIENT life. Would it be ridiculously awesome? Yeah. Probable? Nope.

Isn't it rather arrogant to assume that in all the galaxies and all the stars we have the only planet with sentient (and considering how many humans act I am not sure we can really claim that one) life?

Last sentence is no joke, I believe in life on other planets and a necular base on the moon.

Now this is a joke to your response lol

Yeah I also believe in the tooth fairy, santa clause, the easter bunny, and Obama can save our country.

mom'sfolly :

Oh, they found a "Goldilocks" planet.

And they recently discovered that somethings travel faster than the speed of light. The scientists are trying to find an explanation, and have duplicated the experiment. You just have to figure out how to make your spaceship fit on an neutrino.

The neutrino experiment for now has been dubbed as an error in calculations. One experiment does not dictate if things travel faster than the speed of light.
