Second order of ducks in today...

it could be alot of heat, Most brood with one or the other, where the lamp overlaps the plate it could be hot depending on wattage

We can guess the plate is proper heat since they only turn on or off, whats the wattage in your bulb? in my limited experience chicks do better with heat than ducks

Keep an eye out for constipation or crusty butts, its caused by heat and dehydration

if i were to make an assumption ide say their bloodlines are mixed too much with crests. if i ordered mallards and got crested mallards ide be very mad

Most have crest... dont fool yourself, its shitty bred mallards from a hatchery.
Oh, that is horrible! They look so pitiful. Like @Miss Lydia said, I'd be on the phone first thing tomorrow asking for my money back. I don't think I'd even want replacements if this is what they send to say nothing of the poor little things just being so unwell.

I second that. if you are just looking for hobby pets get barnyard mixed ducklings from a hobby farm on craigslist. Good strong genes

Not that it will help these babies now :(

Quiete rest, a little sugar water and time will only tell

So sorry pal :(

I wonder if they spent the night in a cold Postal facility in Austin last night. The cold front moved through here at 5 yesterday so I am assuming about the same time in Austin
Shipping stress!

I honestly think the ducks have issues from the hatchery. 90 degrees for 2 day old ducks should be fine, chicks 95 degrees. Of course the chicks are fine at 90 too. The ducklings being this latargic over 45 duckling and dying so bad only really leaves shipping issues or health issues.

I didnt order crested ducks.
