Glad to officially be a member of this wonderful site. I used this site extensively when I was brand new to backyard chickens about 10 years ago. The neighbor dog ended up getting all 5 of them and it was a crazy time so I gave up. Just started a new flock. They are now 3 weeks old - black copper and blue copper Marans, blue laced red Wyandotte and a salmon faverolle. Tried to get 3 more today- wanted an americauna, olive Egger and buff Orpington but apparently chicks are the new toilet paper with lines starting an hour before opening! I have 4 kids ages 8-15 years so this is for their learning and enjoyment as well as eggs. The last 3-4 years was spent learning how to vegetable garden and canning my harvests! I have to feed these kids somehow! These are my girls although I’m suspicious that the BCM may be a roo even though they were supposed to be pullets! I also have a 80lb pit bull and a 5lb shih tzu runt. They are both too interested in the chicks as toys which worries me. I’m refreshing my memory and hoping to learn a lot from everyone
