Second Try at Hatching Mini Appleyards...

Monday I had two eggs hatch out of the latest round of Miniature Appleyard (Silver Bantam) eggs. These ducks are hard to hatch. I had ordered some from Duck Creek, and even they were having problems hatching them and had to cancel my order.

(One is a little lighter in beak, down, and leg color than I would have expected, but the other one is perfect )

I am finding them hard to hatch myself...Had two in the first incubator..Doing great till lock down and never internally piped...Both died...I have more due next week...I will see how this goes....I heard these are harder to hatch than Call eggs...

Yes, I had four die after lockdown this time. That seems to be the pattern. Same thing happened last time with these.

It sucks....I bought a breeding pair....They are sold as of today...I will stick with Calls...Easier to hatch.....
