I am so excited for her. I want my Barred rock to go broody because she is the friendliest chicken ever and I want her chicks to be just like her

My word - that is one determined (or greedy) hen!!! LOL! LOOK at ALL those eggs! I will keep everything crossed that we start seeing some chick picx soon! What type of hen is she? I have one that looks almost exactly like her which came as part of a "barn yard mix" group of eggs.

Too Cool! just found this thread today... will be checking back for progress, I have my first broody hen that has been sitting on 1 egg for the last 2.5 weeks... no idea if it will hatch, though im hoping so!

When our little hen went broody on stolen eggs, only 2 hatched out of 9. But those last days of "extreme broodiness" actually marked the days of seeing little feet and little faces poke out from under her to see "what's going on out there?"....AMAZING....the hen can keep eggs and whole chicks tucked inbetween her feathers, even up on her back!

Just listen closely. When we wondered "have we got mice?" was actually tiny little chicks hidden in our fluffed up hen!

It was many more days before she gave up on the rest of the clutch, tossing out eggs every day til she was truly through waiting on them, then she raised her two precious chicks.....

I can't wait to see pics of your new chicks!

Nothing yet. She is sitting tight and I keep a watchful eye on her. I disappear from time to time and just sit in there with her waiting for a little fuzzy butt to appear from under her but nothing.

I am hoping that it will be real soon cause I am getting nervous that nothing is going to happen.
