Hi everybody :)
I'm wondering if anyone has ever noticed that when securing eggs in the turner with cotton balls/paper towel/coffee filters, that the cotton/paper gets wet from the humidity? I'm thinking that this extra moisture directly on the egg might drown the chicks in their shells. Anybody's thoughts or experiences would be appreciated. This is my first time using an incubator and I'm definitely a little nervous. Thanks in advance :)

No, you do not want the eggs laying on a wet surface of any kind. Humidity through the air is all they need. Eggs are porous and need to breath. Laying on something wet will cause lots of issues.

Just follow all the guidelines to hatching and you will do just fine.

I have never heard of securing them into the Turner. If you use quail egg automatic turners then they should fit just fine. Mine do I've hatched button quail in a quail sized egg rack and bobwhite... so I don't think there should be any need for this 'securing'

They are in fact chicken egg rails. When I put the quail eggs in the turner they don't sit properly. The eggs roll around in the cup and I was worried that because of this they might not be turned properly. I have Georgia giant bobwhite eggs and they are significantly more pointy than the coturnix eggs which seem to stay in place.

My quail lay 13-15 gram eggs so they don't fit in a full quail rail, I can only put ten in each(the sides of the neighboring rail will break the eggs on that side so I stagger which side I place the eggs on if that makes sense). What I have to do get 47 eggs in each turner is use 4 properly spaced quail rails and one chicken rail and in the past I've just used the chickens rails by themselves. A lot of people just use chicken rails, have no fear.

You can use the not to sticky tape to hold the eggs in the cups. Just put the tape over them and attach to the edges of the Turner cups, that should hold them in place
