We decided to convert our existing resin shed into a coop. Living in Scottsdale AZ with temps up to 115F we know we need to add some more ventilation. There's 2 small plastic windows we were planning on knocking out and replacing with hardware cloth and making a curtain/shade/cover to make it dark in there so the girls don't wake up too early.

We also thought of adding windows to the large double doors of the shed. The plan was to build wooden frames and attach hardware cloth to these windows. I read in an old thread someone suggested self tapping screws to attach things to the resin. After hearing a pack of coyotes howling in our residential neighborhood last night I'm super paranoid. Would screws be sufficient or will coyotes just be able to rip them out of the resin?

They would be able to rip them out. Drill through, and use carriage bolts, with a wood frame on the inside. Could use 1X4"s inside and out.

Twinklin Could you post some pictures of your shed please? We are converting ours also and adding a run on the "back side" where 1 door is right now.

DH and I have been talking about adding sufficient ventilation and but keeping the birds safe. Yesterday I mentioned to him the idea of those metal a/c return grills. (you know where you put air filter?) what do you think?
