Security camera mini-rant

I just have a feeling that these are mock camera's. Fake one's that LOOK real, can move, etc. I don't personally think your boss would put one in the bathroom, if that's what you meant on the first post. Like, from an eBay thing, it says...
Deters robbery and shoplifting without the high cost of a real surveillance camera.
It features a built in motion detector.
Remains still until someone passes by, then it will move back and forth and a red light will flash.
Mounts to either the wall or ceiling.
Helps reduce and eliminate Employee misconduct, Theft, Lawsuits, Shoplifting, Robbery, Break-Ins.

See this is an opportunity for a bit of fun. While I probably wouldnt do this I KNOW my KIDS, and my HUSBAND would have a field day with it. Make a point of scratching an arm pit, picking your nose...do a double take at the camera then slink off. And of course any other thing that wont get you fired but could embarrass anyone who might be watching. (LORD you should see some of the stuff they do in front of cameras at the stores.)

I hate cameras in the workplace, shows an extremely high level of mistrust between management and staff. Breakrooms and bathrooms should be offlimits as everyone needs down time.

Cameras seem to be every where these days and it just goes to show you the big brother is watching. Anyone that doesnt have a problem with cameras on every street corner, has already submitted to the thought police. (sorry my conspiracy theorist is showing  )

Hubby's workplace has been installing cameras when he was there in his first year. Too many cases of theft, illegial drugs, and what's not going on in there. It has a very high turnover rate which it is so unbelieveable. On the average, state cops, city cops would come in and make random arrests.

A few employees got fired, who wants to ruin a half a million dollar worth of equipment, only a broken crane or careless forklift driver hell bent making donuts in the alleyway.........camera recorded it all. I am sure it would do C*T proud!

The company likes to hire ex convicts for tax breaks and trying to get those people more productive. Only the lucky few stayed on the company for longer than two years and they are happy to have the job, stay out of trouble. Majority are repeated offenders, have no desire to work or improve their lives, only to get arrested again.

Makes me think why in the heck they keep hiring temps.....only one out of hundreds will be promoted from temp to permanent. I bet the temp services are making a killing off from it.

All in all, good money, good benefits and not a hard mental task are one of the perks. Cameras are everywhere. Hubby learned to ignore them and use it for his benefit.

I work at a hospital that have cameras everywhere. At first I minded them, but now I can careless. I pick my nose, scratch myself, and everything in front of the camera. It don't bother me one bit!

I've always been taught (dad was a police officer) that you should always think about the way you act anywhere you are, because you never know where you will be filmed...security cameras, cell phones, or otherwise! Even babysitting I am always very careful because I certainly wouldn't put it past a parent to install a nanny cam (Not that I would do anything horrible, but even little things like snacking in the living room when you are not supposed to eat in there!) My babysitting days are few and far between now and the family I sit for now I've been sitting for for years now. I'm pretty sure they trust me without cameras! But you never know with new families.

I don't think we have them in the building I am stationed out of right now, but I know the hospitals are filled with them. For the most part the people aren't watching the monitors 24/7, and when they do watch them, they aren't focusing on just YOU. For the most part the cameras don't really bother me very much.

We had cameras installed at our work place but mostly outside. There are a few inside, but they are set up to watch outside doors in case anyone was to break in when we were closed or something. For the most part they aren't even checked unless something is suspected. We have lots of large vehicles so our back lot has cameras which have helped explained mysterious dings and dents on the vehicles that weren't there the day before.

We are lucky to have a nice large bathroom because the former tenants of this building had a lot of employees, now us ladies have a bathroom with 5 stalls and only 3 women working in the office. So we have plenty of room to hide in our own personal stalls and do all the picking, scratching and adjusting we need to do. It's still hard to get use to the cameras though. I think we have had them about a year or more now and I can still feel them watching me.

I had a good look at them and I think they are real, though we don't know where the footage goes. I'm still trying to figure that out. One of my co-workers had no such reservations. She stormed into the reception area and demanded to see the footage. Boss said no way, so she said she "wants to see herself on TV". She's such a child still, shame.
I'm making a point of doing my picking and scratching on camera now. Especially in our rest area. If they are that interested in our doings we'll just give them the full monty. We don't mention the cameras and though no-one said anything openly negative the general feeling is bad. We feel like they don't trust us and some of my co-workers are upset about that. It would've been better if they weren't so sneaky about it. Waiting until late evening when we were all off premise before installing it. And they haven't mentioned it at all.
I toyed with the idea of asking if they're going to put one in the bathroom as well, but decided against it.
