O.k. so I have the electric fence ready to hook up, I have a top on the pen, I have a doulbe layer of chicken wire over the chain link, but just relized there is a huge gap between the gate and the post. Like almost 4 inches. I think I can just attach a board or something to the gate, whatever I do will have to swing. Any other suggetstions?
I am very concerned because they were out with me all day Saturday and Sunday, having a grand old time, but when I brought them in yesterday afternoon I did not shut the gate and this morning SOMETHING had sprayed in their sand.

. I think it was a tomcat, I know it was not my kittiegirls, because if their litterbox smelled like that I would KNOW.

Or it might have been a fox.

4 inches is wide enough for a coon to get in & eat them up.

You can attach the board as you suggest. It will work fine - you could also attach plain chicken wire to the gate too.

Ever think about building a new gate door & having it just a little bit closer? You want the gap 1 inch or less & make sure the gate can't be pushed to cause the gap to be even bigger. Once a coon gets its head through it will push its way in.
