Sedating a chicken for an emergency surgery

Chickens aren't as pain sensitive as humans (towel over head, two people makes it easier). Just be sure to wrap in vet wrap and use an antibiotic to avoid gangrene. And have her get plenty of rest afterward)

We stitched it already. But seems like there is an infection started already. We are giving her antibiotic and put tripple antibiotic ointment. But we left it unwrapped. Seems like when we put her bandage it starts smelling bad.

Chickens usually do better if wounds are left open to drain and stay dry. Stitching a chicken up is almost a sure way to close up bad bacteria inside your poultry and that never ends well..

We cut all the stitching open and got to make some pics

We cleaned as much of the dead flash as possible and being putting the antibiotic ointment on. Does it look like the infection is going up?
