Does anyone know how can I sedate a chicken with benadryl?

Chickens usually do better if wounds are left open to drain and stay dry. Stitching a chicken up is almost a sure way to close up bad bacteria inside your poultry and that never ends well..We stitched it already. But seems like there is an infection started already. We are giving her antibiotic and put tripple antibiotic ointment. But we left it unwrapped. Seems like when we put her bandage it starts smelling bad.
