Hi All,

I picked up my chicks yesterday from the post office! They are doing great, although one unexpectedly passed away this morning while I was away (what a difference 4 hours makes).

I ordered 6 chickens specifically - one RIR, one Delaware, one EE, 2 Silver Cuckoo Marans, and one golden laced wyandotte.

I ordered an additional 12 of a "rare breed mix" - which could include any of the following breeds:

Chicken #1: (we'll start with an easy one)

Totally yellow fluff with a few faint dark streaks, no feathers on the neck, one black dot on top of the head, and yellow feet.

Chicken #2: I am REALLY curious about this one!

She is all yellow with a kind of leopard print - very cool!

The thing that stinks about all of these is that EE is an option - which could look like anything!

Hmmm, #2 is muffed but clean-footed. I'm thinking EE. Beautiful chick, though, it's probably going to be gorgeous!

#1... Naked neck! Seeing as it doesn't have feathers on the neck.

Chicken #3: I have at least 2 of these - they look just alike - I call them the "skunkies"

These ladies are as a whole dark, but have streaks of light feathers that stick out a bit - like a lion's mane. They have non-feathered, orange feet. My suspicion is Barnevelder - any ideas?

Completely yellow, with orange feet. I am thinking this is my one Delaware.

I am almost positive these are my two silver cuckoo marans.

Chicken #5 - all these colorful variations have me really wondering!

She has non-feathered, orange feet - I am hoping it is a Wyandotte variation - maybe the golden laced?

Are muffs definitive even in day-olds? I guess I should assume all muffed chicks are EEs, seeing as none of them have feathered legs? Do some breeds have muff-looking feathers, but will grow out of them?
