see my arucanon

Araucanas are pretty much non-existant and are always rumpless. Many hatcheries sell "araucanas", but they are Ameraucanas which are not a recognized breed. They are mutts that lay colored eggs. The Easter Eggers are Americaunas that do not breed true to the defined chariteristics of the Ameracauna. i.e no beard or tufts. So you can have an Americauna bred to an Americauna and have chicks that are easter eggers. Araucanas have a lethal gene that kills the chicks in the eggs before they hatch which is why they are for the mostpart extinct. The Americaunas (EEs) are mix breed decendance of araucanas which is why people are often confused. Araucanas do lay only blue eggs and when crossed with any other breed that trait is passed to the offspring, but the offspring will lay tinted eggs from blue to almost a pink color.

Looks like an Easter Egger to me. Then again, I didn't need to say that, many people have said it before me!

It DOES look like she has tufts and EEs do have tufts. Mine does, and she still lays pure white eggs.

they are difficult but not extinct

also, araucana weren't used for ee's, ameraucana were-hence the muffs/beards.....
ameraucana ARE a recognized breed, any other spelling of the word-i.e. americana, aracana, ameracauna, etc are used for EE's

She has muffs/beard- tufts are the feathers sticking out from just the side of the head in the above post

;)Araucanas do exist. They are several breeders of the pure araucanas and they have also an association. They have some fertility issues though.
