Seeded with clover?

Hi all, we,‘ve been working on our setup and we are almost there! I have about 4 weeks until my chicks move in their cop and run, so I have seeded the whole run with clover. Has anyone tried this? I figure it may be well rooted and tall by the time the chicks move in. I’m seeing lots of sprouts, so I hope this was a good idea...

I think they will kill it all once they move in, but should be a good food source until it’s gone.

I think you’re right that the clover won’t last long once they’re in the run, but that they’ll love it while it lasts.

You could build a hardware cloth/chicken wire screen over some of it so the chickens can only get to the top leaves near the wire and cannot scratch the plants out of the ground. Like this:
