Good Evening!

I'm a long-time lurker to your forum, but first time registrant and poster. You all are so experienced and informative that I knew I had to come out of anonymity and turn my question over to you!

We have our new crop of chickies, one of which I have never seen the likes of before. I've poured over websites for hours trying to place him (or her), but to no avail. I do have pictures, but being a first-time user here, can't for the life of me figure out how to post them, so...I will describe my little guy the best I can and hopefully we can go from there! The only thing I know certainly is that he is a bantam variety, as he was purchased in an assorted straight run of such. He is tiny, completely slate gray with very short fuzz, almost having the look of being closely shaven. He is clean-legged, and has a very black beak and very black legs. This will sound crazy, but he also has prominent ears! I have never noticed the ears on any other chickens we have ever had, but on this little baby, they are a truly a stand out feature, probably due to the closely cropped hair-do. The dark skin had me thinking "Silkie," but as I mentioned, he's clean-legged, and his feathers are coming in quite "normally" with no Silkie-esque characteristics. My husband says the hatchery snuck us a vulture baby. ;-)

I know you all must get flooded with the "help me identify my chick" posts, but I certainly would appreciate any assistance, as I am truly, truly stumped. I can send pictures, or if someone would be kind enough to tell me how to post them here, I would be most grateful!!

Beth

New posters can't post in order to discourage spammers, but keep posting and it'll open up for you.

I am aware of some rare breeds, like the Ac chicken breeds that have dark skin, but you could really narrow down your suspects if you know (or tell us) what the hatchery is, and has to offer.

There is always a possibility that it is a silkie cross, maybe an EE.

Edited to add: Oh yeah and Sumatras!
