We've been having a cold spell here in AZ & I've been checking in on the birds more than checking in online. I should've been checking in, you guys are so happy and friendly and helpful! The day after signing up here it was like I got chicken-mail, letting me know how great it is here.
I'd gone to see my ganders and before I even got a few steps from the car there's this *beautiful,* shiny, healthy rooster--luminously rust-colored with an emerald plume of a tail--with poofs of feathers covering his feet! I'd had a hen and a rooster as a kid, so I was just grinning ear to ear. Very wary of people he wouldn't let me approach him, so I just left him two big handfulls of poultry scratch to help see him through the cold. I'm pleased to say that as of yesterday everybody seems to be doing o.k. with the weather--the rooster, my ganders and their families, I even got to see a young drake I'd feared had gone missing, little mallard with a broken wing (it's been broken for at least a week now, yet every time I try reaching wildlife rescue he's not in sight (but his brother seems to be taking care of him when he isn't intermitently being a brother, lol.)
