Seeking Wisdom and Advice on Coop/Barn

No, it's dry. The sheeting is more like tyvek, I assume it was used to prevent drafts. The barn is at least 70 years old.
You could always add some materials for a deep litter on top of the dirt, then. I would work out some ventilation for the areas separately, or take out the adjoining wall and put some big window vents on the door side. It is hard to tell much from the pictures, but it might be helpful to allow ventilation from the front to reach the stable section by removing the plywood from the framing.

Like what I did here.

Beautiful setup and thanks for the ideas! This is actually what I had in mind - a large indoor area for them for winter/bad weather. The pic of the barn that I showed is only about a third of it. The rest had a wood floor, and there is a second floor. With it being old and a bit drafty, it really doesn't get hot in there on the lower part. You have inspired me! (By the way, what is the kitty litter bucket doing there? )

Thank you!!

Happy to help! I wanted a large coop for them in bad weather as well. Usually, they free range all day, but when the snows and ice hit, it is nice to have a good sized area for them to hang out in. It also gives me room to build a chick/broody pen in the coop, which I need to start on. The kitty litter bucket is a nipple waterer that I keep in the coop for nights and mornings. There is a feed pan under it to keep water off the floor. I have a timer that turns lights on at 7am and shuts them off at 10pm, so they can get extra feed and water time. I need to get a couple of windows for light in the rear of the coop. The feed buckets are my nest boxes. I have three of those and they seem to really like them, and they are easy to clean. My coop is open and simple. The roosts aren't attatched to the building, just sitting in cinder blocks. I can move everything around or out, if I choose.
