Please help. We are new to raising hens. Our hens are about 17 weeks old. One of our leghorns has about a half an inch "crack" on the base of her comb. Her comb has been getting pretty big over the past month, the biggest in our flock. It does tip more to one side, on the base of the side that is isn't tipped over is where the crack is. She is a the top of the pecking order so to speak in our coop. There is no blood on her feathers to show it was bleeding. Is it possible for her comb to be getting too heavy almost for her and crack? Please any advice on how i should treat her. I know it needs to be kept clean as well as where she is staying. Should I isolate her?
