(I've got to try hatching eggs)

Can you tell us how you made your bator? I have been toying with the idea of making one myself.

Not to fancy.....i used a 10 gallon aquarium. I made a hole to add a 100 wat bulb in the center of the lid and taped all the lid with duct tape....i used a light dimmer to regulate the temp....no thermostat.....i used a digital thermometer and laid it flat besides the eggs.....little water on small pan to maintain humiidity at 30%......also used a computer fan to circulate the warm air (never had constant temp thru all incubator with fan always about 1 degree difference from side to side).....temp had it 99.5 to 101.....turned the eggs twice a day one in morning one at night.....candled them at 7 days.....12 days.....18 days then lockdown.....crossed my fingers ....and what do you know?.....all 20 eggs hatched starting day 20 ending day 22nd.....

awesome! this makes me want to make a homemade incubator. Only problem is we don't have any way of regulating the temp. in our house (we do have 2 woodburning stoves & window AC units) the temps. are all over the place depending on the weather and what time if the day/night it is.

I wonder if I could set up something like this in a closet or some small space where it stays relatively the same temp.? Seems easy enough and I have several old aquariums that I need to either use or get rid of...better not let Dh see this or he'll be making one by the time I get home from work
