This is one of my new chicks I just got yesterday. We had one doing this last night and found it dead this morning. She seems to be very tired. She peeps a few times then stops and falls back asleep. Then she will try to walk around but doesn't come to a full stand. She had a big glob of poop on her that I cleaned off her and wondering if she should perk back up after cleaning her off or if I need to do more? She was getting trampled by the other chicks so I brought her in with me.

Have you made sure that they are eating and drinking? Try some electrolytes like sav a chick in their water. If that isn't available, make a sugar water mixture...1 tbsp of sugar to a quart of water. Drop some on her beak so that she will drink. Use an eyedropper to do this. Hopefully, this will perk her up. Hard boil and egg...crumble the yolk and feed her that once she has some water in her. Keep a close eye on her and clean off any poop that is stuck.

Good luck with your peep. Hopefully, this will help. If you can, get some sav a chick from tsc and some poly vi sol vitamins, without iron. A drop a couple times a day will help alot.

She hasn't perked up. She is still hanging on though. I put her in a box and covered her up to help keep her warm. I have been giving her sgar water but going to see if I can get her to eat some yolk here in a bit. Fingers are crossed she makes it.

It's good that you brought her inside, the extra warmth will help to keep her energy directed at getting better; hydration, food, vent hygiene and heat are the most important things at the moment; if you can't get hold of sav a chick electrolytes, you can go to your pharmacy and get one for people, it does exactly the same thing but will probably be more convenient for you get a hold of. A really good food for sick chicks which is usually pre-dosed with vitamins is chick crumb/crumble, mix a little with some very warm water and make it into a porridge, let it cool a little before feeding them from the end of your finger. Good luck with your little one, hope it pulls through.

i'm so sorry for your loss...please make sure and let whomever you got them from know that you are having trouble. Hopefully, the rest will be fine.

I got them from McMurray Hatchery. My bestie and I split an order. One had died in her care and I have lost 2 :( I am not that experienced with chickens so I am not sure how normal it is to lose some. The other 11 look great. They are very active. Now is just the fun of figuring out what breeds we have
