I have no idea what happened but this poor Orpington was laying in her best when I got home today. She has what appears to be a very deep slice behind her wing that is seeping fluid. We had a hawk last week that took three of my young silkies but I took care of him and haven't seen another since. How do I treat this? Do you think another chick did this? http://twitter.com/steffie1375/status/240552834083475457/photo/1

Very possibly caused by a hawk. How old is the hen, and do you have a rooster? It also looks like and is positioned in the area where a large rooster's spurs or toenails can injure a hen. Make sure that flies do not lay their eggs in the wound, and apply Neosporin.

She is 7 monts old. We have 6 roosters. They just won't leave my girls alone. :( my initial thought was the roosters spur placement. They're quite violent in their endeavors with the hens. I cleaned it out and applied neosporin. I will keep an eye on her. Thank you!

That many roosters gang breeding your hens can cause serious injury. If at all possible separate them from the hens so as to assure that no more get injured. I would almost be willing to bet that is 'rooster injury'. Such harassment causes stress and reduction in egg production. Definately keep them away from the injured hen. Good luck at resolving this situation.
