So I have 6 Buff Orpington chickens and they all are around 1 and a half. I am looking at getting more chickens, but this time I want to get some other chickens to go along with them. I am doing a therapy chicken project and was wondering what would be the best breed to use as therapy chickens for a retirement home and ones that work well together. I have been falling in love the the Speckled Sussex's, but I didn't know how well they got along with Buff Orpingtons and how well they would do as therapy chickens. If you had any advice for me that would help me a lot.
Thanks!
Caitlin

Are there characteristics other than friendliness/suitability for therapy animals that are important to you - things like egg production, etc? One breed that are frequently used as therapy chickens are silkies. While silkies can be targets for bullying in a mixed flock, having a nice breed like the BOs you have now can go a long way in making for a harmonious mix.

I am just looking for chickens that will be enjoyable for people to watch. I will keep Silkies in mind while I am researching for this project. i just want to make sure that I pair the right breeds together, but I also want nice chickens that enjoyable by the residents of the retirement home. Thanks for the advice!
