I was wondering if anyone knows how long after hens being separated from other males you can expect the eggs to be from the new male? Basically how far along will a female hold sperm for their eggs. Will 2 days be enough to expect the eggs to be from the new male's genes?

I have a mixed flock and want the breeds to be bred true for this next round of hatching. I want my tuxedos with tuxedos and white wing pharaohs to other pharaohs, etc.

Oh shit, I was thinking a week max! Good to know. I was hoping it was pretty short turn around cause I'd prefer them having more space of the outdoor run instead of just being in a smaller section like the hutch. I appreciate the time to help me out btw

Unfortunately, the hens can store the genetic material in the foam for two weeks. I know breeders who wait three just to be sure.

2 to 3 weeks is about right. Breeding tux to tux will not increase chances at tux chicks as you would get 25% base color 50% tux 25% dotted white. Breeding a dotted white to any base will give you 100% tux
