self blue color

I want some self blue D'Uccles...I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find what I would call "self blue"...Anyway my question is...If I look at the parent birds and they "appear" to fit my description of "self blue" can I buy eggs and get the true self blue color in the chicks? Or should the parents not be both self blue to insure self blue chicks? and if not both self blue then what color combination would I look for in the parents?

The breeding stock both need to carry the Lavender gene.

if both parents look self blue, the chicks should all inherit two self blue genes, making them look like the parents, unless there are other recessive genes at work also, like for example recessive white, which you would likely not find in D'uccles, but may in silkies, etc...
