Ok so this is my first year with chickens. I have hatched a whole new flock from 3 months on down to day olds. My question is this, I know the time is prime right now to sell chickens, should I sell them now before it is too late or hold on till the new ones are laying? Some of my breeds are not going to be sold, but my regular breeds like New Hampshires, Easter Eggers and Olive Eggers I was thinking of selling most of them in the fall, but that may be too late. I have 14-16 NH chicks and about 12 German NH growing up so I think I would be ok to sell them, right? Easter Eggers.... well who knows how many I have maybe 30+ and more in the bator. Olive Eggers... well I have a few that are about 3 months old. I only have 2 now that just turned a year old a couple of months ago.
My long term plan is to replace as many as I can in my flock every year. I want to sell pullets while they are still young and good layers.
I will still have plenty of eggs to eat and sell in the mean time.... I am really only talking about 10-12 layers.
So.... What do you do or would you do?
