Seller on e bay plaguarized listing with my photo - even watermarked!

i bought a mower a few years ago for my tractor off ebay, advertised as a finish mower. it turned out to be a belly mower for a specific brand of tractor that wouldn't even come close to working with mine as a 3 pt hitch. I paid cash when i picked it up, it was still in the crate, no way to know until i attempted to assemble it. since i paid cash for it, ebay wouldn't do anything about it. i did give him negative seller rating, which in turn prompted him to give me a negative buyer rating. I wound up having to take him to court, i just couldn't afford to lose $750 on something i couldn't use.

i guess my point is this, ebay is NOT what it's cracked up to be, i'll never buy or sell anything from there ever again. I sure wouldn't order eggs from there

The music and movie industry has been fighting the stolen property war for decades. They have the money to fight, and It seems that in the information age, to control ones intellectual property is a losing battle. Has anyone copied a music cassette tape or burned a CD to share? Do your kids swap MP3 files with their friends? Has anyone ever bought a photo at the Santa Clause Set and then scanned it an re-printed it? Many people infringe on copyrights, some without knowing it and others find ways to justify it. Doesn't make it right.

I don't defend this EBay seller for their actions in the least, but I don't think it is right to cyber bully a person even if their practices are egregious. I appreciate the information being posted by the person whose pictures were stolen. I have become increasingly cautious when shopping on that venue, and I like to be an informed shopper. EBay has become an unpleasant place to shop for the most part. However there are GOOD people there too! I found this site through an Ebay seller and have seen that person selling here as well.

Some of the comments on here have me seeing an angry mob with pitchforks and torches ready to burn the witch! And that's just not cool.

I don't think mobbing a person is an appropriate course of action. It is tantamount to vigilante justice. Certainly support the person who was offended, but bullying a person online or otherwise is objectionable. There are legal actions that can be pursued by the person offended. If you want justice under the law than seek that out. But to be a bystander that takes it upon themselves to directly attack a person is irreproachable as well.
