I just sold my adult chickens for $5 a piece. Was that a good deal.

It's a good deal for the buyer. Adult hens around here typically fetch 10-20 dollars depending on breed, show-worthiness, and laying ability. Roosters are usually free.

Depends on how old they are!!! Around here we usually refer to less than a year old as pullets & after they turn one their considered hens. The males are cockerels till one & then after a year their roosters.

I only sell 2 year olds or older for $5 unless they're not a good layer. Average pullet price here is $10-$20+ depending on breed. Older hens $5-$10 unless they're heritage types still active in laying or a super rare breed still laying. Any boys I hatch... they're free with the purchase of a hen, and I don't sell only hens till the boys are gone.
