hello :)

I am just about getting to the point where I would be able to sell a couple dozen eggs a day.. I plan on just putting up a little stand at the end of my driveway and hoping people respectfully leave money... I have seen a lot of cute stand ideas that do not have an electric/refridgerated element.. how does this work? After I wash my eggs, and put them out in the stand, how long will they be good out there? Do I have to wash them with something special? Our outdoor temps right now are highs of 55 lows of 41 or so fairly mild.. but what about summer? Do I eventually have to put power out there and a fridge? What do your stands look like??

Thank you!

I sold eggs out of my house and kept them in my fridge. People would just ring the door bell when they wanted some. I wanted to do the outside fridge but hubby was against it.
Welcome to BYC!

Welcome.
X2 on your basic location.

Have you talked to your neighbors to see if they would be interested in buying some?

What is a stray dog came and ate them all?

i just looked up my county regulations.. it looks like i have to have them in a cooler or fridge with a thermometer that shows that the temp in under 45 degrees.. so I'm thinking i will make a stand with a cooler on it.. and a sign, with a money jar/container.. should be safe from wild animals/dogs then. Any ideas are very appreciated! :)

Ditto to this, in my area there are signs in the yard saying eggs and sometimes the price also. if you put a fridge out front how would you power it? and are you willing to have someone steal it????? you must think out all problems and solutions ahead of time...

I wouldn't. I'd be more worried about the humans stealing your eggs, money, and/or cooler. Have the knock for eggs or sell to neighbors/friends. People just aren't that good.

I sell eggs everyday and I just place an ad on craigslist with prices and sizes. There is just to many untrusting mean people out there. Once I have met these egg buyers several times I then will let them know that orders will be filled and place in a cooler on my patio for them to pick up and place the money in an envelope with their name on it.
I bag up orders and place their names on the bag along with placing envelops, pen and some cash( I only put 10.00 of ones for change out) for them to make change! It works!
