So I'm juuuuust beginning researching selling extra eggs. I understand that U.S rules say eggs must be washed for sale. Since I personally think this is ridiculous and since each and every one of my eggs is fertile and could very well hatch (I have a half dozen Roos) can I just sell unwashed 'Hatching Eggs' for $4/pop?

Hatching eggs are considered livestock. "live embryos" Not eating eggs. It's an intentional legal workaround for that law. You're all good selling unwashed for hatching eggs.

No need to wash. They won't be for eating and washed eggs don't have the protective bloom that keeps bacteria out.

I am new to selling eggs, but I am learning that you can sell purebred eggs of just about any breed for at least $15 per dozen! Mixes could probably get between $5-10.

Rare breeds more than that. These eggs are just my backyard ragtag gang (I've got a 5 acre {beginning} chicken farm) that mow and keep bugs down. They used to be pullets but are becoming hens....sigh...time flies....anyways I've been so busy with my actual breeding stock I forget a dozen regular ol barnyard mutts are laying eggs all day for me too 😝

I'm eating 6 eggs a day but I feel like Lucy at the candy factory. Hence my thought "Hey, people sell these things off, right?"😆

Please do not sell unwashed eggs for any purpose. Unwashed eggs may preserve the bloom, but the actual difference in hatch rate with or without the bloom is minuscule at best. The likelihood of infecting the embryo with bacteria is increased exponentially in unwashed eggs or even contaminating the entire hatch.
When you sell unwashed eggs you're transmitting bacteria, fungi & possibly viruses to the people receiving them as well as to their flocks. This is a huge reason we have poultry illnesses and diseases spreading so rapidly and why bacteria become resistant to antibiotics. If you sell, please do so responsibly and sanitize your eggs.
