I'm not sure where to put this. I'm trying to "manage" my flock so..
Yesterday I heard a commotion outside, so I ran out and found my Wheaten Maran rooster beating the fool out of my Wyandotte bantam rooster. He had him pinned between the fence and the house just going to town on him. I told my hubby that if Red(maran rooster) kills Drogon(Bantam rooster) that he'd be in my freezer. He told me to sell him bc he doesn't want him to hurt Drogon either. How much do I charge for him? Thanks!

I agree with Sour, so I will just tell you what usually happens in our area.
We have a local "Small Animal Swap Meet" Saturday mornings at an auction yard outside of town. Unwanted roosters - depending on size - go from anywhere between $5 for smaller guys to $10 for bigs. $8 is what it costs me to get them from chick to about 14-16 weeks, so that is what I ask. They are usually sold in a manner of seconds (literally, we drive in and are swarmed by folks at the car) to a family who will be processing them directly.
I have also found that if you give away a roo for free on CL, it will end up at the swap to be sold. :)
Best of luck to you.

Selling roosters for $10! :bow

Never happen in my area. It's hard to give them away here. I'm always amazed at peoples local markets- envious of folks who easily sell pullets for $20. Just unheard of here.
Lol. It depends on the breed here. I see some people giving them away. others are selling them but they always do the private msg thing so I never know how much they sell them for.

Hello!

I recently had to give TWO cockerels away, as we got three x 6 week olds, and two ended up being male (the larger ended up picking on the smaller).

We ended up finding a nice lady on Gumtree who was offering homes to unwanted animals, as she free ranges chickens, and she had more than enough room on her 5 acres to house our two roos.

If you don't care about the money (and I have no idea how much different breeds or roosters are worth), maybe look on your local message boards/Buy & Sell pages to see if anyone is willing to rehome him for you.

I'm sorry I couldn't be more help - I'm not nearly as experienced as other BYCers!
