Lenny is doing a great job with the ladies, he's been mating like crazy.

After I worm and toss those eggs, I'm thinking of hatching a few from a few of my girls. I think him crossed with my splash polish, rose comb leghorn, and my buff laced looking easter egger, Josephine and Bessie. Daisy looks salmon favorelle ish... but kinda buff laced. I'm uploading all my files onto sd card into my computer to make the picts show up. My phone doesn't feel like it still.

I am so glad he is doing well in his new flock! Its a slippery slope when you start hatching eggs--I myself have become a confirmed hatch-a-holic! I thinks its an unintended consequence of chicken math

My friend has those ayum cemani locally and they're in the incubator from her flock. Some are spoken for, others not. If I have a roo (s) would you do the quieting surgery on them? Would you be interested in adding cemani to your flock? Like I was thinking, the quietest roo I would keep? & you have choice of the others? 26 eggs in the bator I hear... and only a dozen spoken for.. tempting?!

I know this is not on topic, but the forum won't let me post my own ad :/ I'm in Parker and am in desperate need of one or two young hens to replace one that just got nabbed by a neighbor's dog (she jumped the fence). My husband is currently rebuilding the run to include a roof (we're in deep suburbia, so didn't need one to keep predators out, but apparently did need one to keep the birds IN), and I'm now on the hunt for a replacement so our remaining hen doesn't have to live alone. She's quiet, sweet, a silver wyandotte, never squawks, and is young (about to lay her first egg any day, I'm sure). I need another one or two of similar age and similar quiet temperament (my neighbors are very good with the chickens, but will not be if they start getting extremely loud). Any ideas where I can look this late in the year? Poor little girl seems so sad.
