We recently added geese to our flock, but I am curious if it's ok to send them outside yet? We really need to move our 3 ducklings into the larger border soon so I'm hoping we can, if not it's on to plan B (we maybe fell victim to the kids pleas on the birds this year, although we did try and stagger)
Key points:
They are 5 weeks old and their heads almost stick out of the bin we have them in so they're getting too big but they aren't feathered out yet. They have also been raised with 2 chicks who now think they are geese and I really dont want to separate them. The chicks are pretty well feathered out
Temps are "spring in Utah" it will be 80 on Saturday and snow on Tuesday
We have a stall in our barn that they can be enclosed and has heat lamps. The kicker here is that we are currently transitioning our last batch of chicks out into the pasture so I fell a little bad kicking them out. But they can always sleep in the other stall which also has heat lamps (we maybe over did it after having 2 chickens and a duck freeze this winter)
I dont want to give them range of the yard because we have a large pond. I'm afraid they will drown. So the will stay locked up for a while yet.
