Sentence by sentence story

WOW!!! So far this is amazing! Who knew there were such talented writers on BYC.

One person will write a sentence. Then another person continues and writes another sentence. Lets see how far we can get.
Rules:
-You must continue the story properly.
-This story will be in third person, keep it that way
-Try to keep the charators the same(Don't change their personality too much)
-You cant post twice in a row
-Make sure you can think of at least two ways to continue the story after your sentence
-Dont copy other books and movies, keep it original
-have fun

I will start:
The fire raged up ahead.

 

[Dutchgirl]

A boy stood in the middle of a field, basking in the dimming evening light.

 

[OrpingtonDude]

A dog walks up and sits next to him.

 

[Dutchgirl]

"Good boy, Old Blue," he says gently, patting the brindle hound on the head.

 

[NixNoodleNumbat]

The dog affectionately licks the boys hand, making him giggle.

 

[Dutchgirl]

The two beings watch a family of deer graze on the hill below them, a sense of peace falling over the entire valley.

 

[BirdNut]

The light of the moon dapples the nearby lake, the reflections split and dance across the trees, the wind whistles softly and sings a song without beat, whirling gracefully through the tall grasses and weeds.

 

[Dutchgirl]

The boy rises slowly, and says, "Come on, Blue; time to go on home."

 

[BirdNut]

Blue shakes out his short, wirey and grizzled coat before following the boy on the dirt path from which they came.

 

[Dutchgirl]

The full moon guides the pair on their way; the hard-beaten path is soft on their feet and easy to follow; a nightingale sings a gentle lullaby.
