i have moscovy momma duck #1 with 18 babies... and moscovy momma duck #2 with 5... hatched within 2 days of each other - should i divide up the big brood to even things out?

and to make it worse...

2 of the 5 went over to the bigger brood (the snuck under the coop divider which i've since fixed)

and

we found one baby from the big brood dead - we think he got smothered by the crowd

any thoughts on this? otherwise all is well and they are funnier than a barrel of monkeys

Im not sure, as I have only ever had one batch of ducklings at a time and the most was 8

Good luck, and I hope you dont loose any more of your babies

do you think i should try and put the 2 escapees back with the original momma?? they are just a smidge smaller so i think i can ID them

Do the mothers get along fine( ive never had scovies - but want some) ?
I know some ducks just put their ducklings all together, not sure if yours would though.
