Good evening all! I'm planning for the spring and one of the big projects is new chicken housing. We currently have our chickens all together (except our indoor seramas). However I plan on splitting birds into breeding groups come early spring and we have plans on investing in some additional breeds as well.

I had a plan to build basically a walk in shed using chicken wire to separate it into smaller indoor pens. However, I'm wondering if it would be easier to just build smaller coops for each breed and ome for our layers. I'm working on my pro and con list for each method. However, I'm wondering what most of you do and what you like/dislike about how you've done it.

You can do ether way, and have good results. It all depends on how many chickens, and different breeds you would be raising. Advantage with one larger shed,,,,,, chickens do stay warmer when there are many in same enclosure. Easier to maintain, and check things at lockup each night. You would need to make separate runs out of that single shed to keep chickens separate during daytime outdoors. All could be done, provided you planned things well in advance.
Much of everything depends on how much area you have available for the new chicken endeavor.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:
