Hi!

I am new here, but love the site!

I have several breeds of bantams in a mixed flock. I would like to separate some pairs out to get purebred eggs to hatch. How long would they have to be separated in order for any previous sprem to be eliminated? So far, we have just been eating the eggs, but this year I would like to incubate some eggs.

Thanks for any info!

minimum 2 weeks......4 weeks to be safe. Unless you tell folks there is a possibility they aren't 100% pure. But then, that defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

If you are hatching for yourself and don't mind the possibility of a crossbred 3 weeks. If you are selling eggs or do not want to deal with the occassional mutt, 4 weeks.
