Separating hens with rooster...

I don't think you would have a fertility issue with 1 roster and 16 hens. I have 1 rooster on 30 hens and actually have really great fertility. I find that the more roosters you have the worse the fertility because the roosters fight each other while they are trying to mate and it keeps it from happening.

Oh that's probably true... I didn't think about the fighting each other off part. My last batch of 40 I hatched 30. So we've been doing pretty good so I wasn't planning on changing anything. But I have wanted a single breed flock. It helps with hatching and selling and it's nicer to add more to the flock on my own that way
