We put our 2 ducks out in the enclosed lean-to to get some fresh air and more room to run around.
All they do is cry, until my daughter goes out and sits with them. LOL
For 30 mins they cried today until she went out there. We put the goose on the other side in the yard so they would have company but no physical contact (they can see each other through the hardware cloth) but it didn't help.
Any ideas? Will they stop that when they get older. They are 4 weeks old.

Had the same issue with my Pekins. We are building them a big pen this weekend for them to live outside. They are going on 8 weeks old. And I have a small coop for them in the yard currently and have been keeping them in there in afternoon and evening

they have been pretty good. They play in the pond then Go in their coop. But when I let the dogs out at night before bed, the ducks just sit at the door to their coop and watch and quack at me til I bring them in and get them settled for the night. My wife calls it me tucking them in at night. Get them in the pen we have set up inside, and they watch as I give them food, fresh water, and I have to scratch each on the forehead or they make a huge fuss. So not sure how they are gonna do when I get them in their pen heh. They have gone longer and longer outside and have gone from following me around to doing their own thing most of the time so hoping they adjust well

Its actually so sweet that some folks ducks get that attached to them! Its a blessing really. Ive had a couple ducks be that attached but for the most part iam Duck Enemy #1

They are bonded to humans as their mother. You need to slowly distance yourself from them. They do grow out of it eventually.
That's good to know...I was hoping.

x2!

Let them out in their pen, and just do some chores around the yard, the key is to slowly get them used to being by themselves. You could try putting a bath in their pen to keep them more occupied too.
They have their pool and won't go near it or their food because they stand at the gate and peep, peep, peep.

Awww that is so sweet about tucking them in. Ducks are just like little children.

They stick really close to us and follow us around UNLESS we reach for them and then they seem to be terrified...go figure! LOL
