I have 2 buttonquails (figured that out today lol). One was making a screeching noise, similar to a hawk. I desperately looked for the type of quail (success) and looked up quail calls. So, the shop owner said that the cocks ripped the back feathers off the hens. So, he chose their sex based on that. However, one of the quails I got was actually a cock who got into scraps with the other males in the cage and had some feathers lost. I'm wondering if I should keep the cock and hen together (they're young) or separate them until they're mature. Any help is appreciated.
