First time hatching eggs for me. Have 12 Australorp eggs in the incubator. Couldn't help myself this morning that I had a go at candling (yes I know most say wait till day 7). Just did two at random to see if any spider webs would be visible and YES- both #6 and #9 that I checked have webs visible at 84hrs into incubation. WOOT

Now to wait the long wait. Can't wait for little chickens......

What incubators on a budget would you all recommend? My moms hen that is always broody decided that now that we are going to give her eggs she doesn't want to anymore. Hoping that when the eggs get here on Wednesday-Thursday she will sit again but need to be prepared.

Im in!

I have 35 Delawares eggs from a local breeder in the incubator now, which are due September 7th. I'm hoping for a good hatch with at least a few good breeding hens!

I have the digital little giant works great for me. I think they are about $50. I have had mine for awhile now so could cost a little more or less by now.

That's my favorite part- that first candling where you see the little veins! I always start 4 days in... It's just too hard to wait! I'm trying to wait till Tuesday... That'll be 4 days! Lol

My eggs will be here in the morning can't wait!

Tomorrow the bantam eggs should be arriving in the mail, and I'm also going to pick up the bresse eggs in the morning! I'm unsure what the shipped eggs will look like but I have high hopes for the bresse.

Crossing my fingers that your eggs arrive in good shape.

I couldn't help but check a couple. Wasn't sure if I would be able to see the veins this early but I could. Now to make me wait until Thursday evening (day 7) to candle them all.

Haha...as a first timer incubating eggs I was very impatient for my incubator to arrive. Then I had to wait 2 days before collecting eggs (both so I could test the incubator and arrange collection of the freshest eggs possible). When I finally had it up and running I was a just hoping some would grow. Now I know at least some are fertile and growing I am less impatient but still, this waiting game is difficult
