My husband brought home a pair of Serama chickens. They are absolutely the coolest

So I've been reading a bit on the internet about them. I'm a little worried about winter time cause they're classified as tropical birds. I live in NY so it gets quite cold during winter. So what is too cold for them?? And I'm really hoping I'm not gonna have to run a heater in the coop in cold months

Mine lived in the barn (in thier coop stall) just fine. Having NO drafts are a biggie. If you have a coop outside, and it has cracks or leaky windows, simply seal the cracks and you can always put plastic over the windows, etc. But honestly, thats really np different than any chickens. if you are worried they are cold, you can use a heat lamp for them (please check other posts on how to do this safely).
Good luck, and congrats on the seramas!

We had some days in the winter that were below zero, but Im sure its much colder there. We made it without heat. Im sure you can find lots of posts on here to help you winterize a small coop for them. Deep bedding, plastic etc....
