What color are they? I had no idea what Serama's go for. I actually went to the lady's house to get a few Silkies and seen these guys and she said they were for sale. They were so little and cute i just had to get them.
Do the eggs require the same temp in the incubator as Silkie eggs? Sorry, I'm kinda new to all this chicken stuff
My serama eggs have hatched as early as day 18. I have never had any luck incubating them in a bator but I am sure others here have. I prefer to let the hens take care of that part
The roo looks kinda similar to bb red in color and the 2nd hen looks mille fleurish to me but unsure on the other hens colors. Seramas can throw off all kinds of colors that there are no names for.
I love my Serama! I have a hard time getting any serama eggs to hatch in an incubator though. Didn't have any that made it last time. All died around day 18. I have one that my serama hen brooded that is a silky x serama that she hatched and he/she is gorgeous. Best personalities and cute as can be. I really wanted some babies dang it .
Not sure if it's just the angle of the photo but the first roo photo looked like he had a slight wry tail.
Oh, I forgot to mention. I just bought three chicks and paid $4.00 each for them.
I purchased three hoping to at least end up with a hen and roo, So far the brown one in the middle is a roo, the solid white one is looking like a girl and not sure about the one on the left side of the photo.
I'm hoping to get some this summer. We have to figure out the housing for them first, though. I don't really want to hatch, but I might have to considering how much breeding pairs go for.
i hatched out 1 out of 2 serma eggs...sadly the one was a bit sickly and died, but i bought another day old for 5$ and i have 2 more eggs due to hatch tomorrow and i ccandled friday...they are moving so im excited. i plan on using my old rabbit hutch for my serma cage as soon as i keep the dog from getting in it (lost 2 americannas before i realized)
i eventually want 4 hens and a roo so i can hatch my own eggs. found a nice breeder from md so i may go ahead and get them if the price is right!!
classicredone, are you planning to breed them? Is this why you are needing to figure out the housing for them? My serama is housed with my other chickens and is happier than a little clam out there in the big coop. They do great in the hot summers we get out here, (I think we get it a little hotter in Yuba City than Sac, but still hot) and don't have a problem in the winter at all. She doesn't get harassed by the bigger chickens at all, I think she may be the more dominant of them actually
