Thank you for changing subject! Where did you get these beautiful babies from? Last one looks like a Frizzle!

I hatched them from my trio........1 roo, 1 smooth hen and 1 frizzle hen. I have 16 babies.

Beautiful little birds!! The 1st baby reminds me of one of my babies named Cassidy but your's is a little lighter.

Trying 8 more in the bator now.

I have 7 of Ruthless's eggs under a broody Silkie. Hoping for at least a couple to hatch. I do not have the best luck with shipped eggs but keep on trying!

Tinytot, have you hatched any Silkie/Serama cross eggs? My lone Serama Hen is in with the silkies and has started laying. I am going to see if they hatch for my own pets.
I have only read that some are not that cute. Just curious.

No only Serama and Button Quail! I dont like cross breeding expecailly with a breed that isnt that established (the serama). But I hear of others doing it, more power to them! I wont tell someone its wrong, but I will say I dont like it. who knows, maybe it will be the start of something new

I do agree with you but I have 4 Silkie/Cochin crosses and they are beautiful with a gentle temperment. I like the fact that these have the dark eyes of the Silkie. I will not hatch any more so I eat the eggs that they lay.. I am just trying the 6 silkie/serama eggs and will keep the chicks (if they hatch). I live an area where the shows are entirely to far away for me to attend and it is hard to leave my other pets. I will post pics if they hatch. Thank you for your input.

The American Serama standard is located at: scnaonline.org

Go there and study it if you want to comment on American Serama. mho

I dont have american serama, I think the whole 'american' serama is a joke. I know what correct type is for the Malaysian serama, thats all Im concerned with. They are either serama, or they are not. Trying to standardize them is going to be the ruin of them, as people will breed in other breeds to 'set' certain colors, some I am already seeing. Barred, Golden Duckwing, Blue Golden Duckwing, Silver Duckwing, etc....

How can you know what the 'correct type' is for Malaysian Serama when they are not recognized and do not have a type standard set yet? Check out the scna website if you need to learn the differences between American and Malaysian serama. American Serama is a recognized breed with the current variety listed as white. It takes years to get new colors accepted and they are working towards several others. Since Jerry S. is the one who brought the serama to this country, I think he can call them 'American' if he wants to
