I dont have american serama, I think the whole 'american' serama is a joke. I know what correct type is for the Malaysian serama, thats all Im concerned with. They are either serama, or they are not. Trying to standardize them is going to be the ruin of them, as people will breed in other breeds to 'set' certain colors, some I am already seeing. Barred, Golden Duckwing, Blue Golden Duckwing, Silver Duckwing, etc....

werd...

that's why i'm breeding for type only and not color... that's pretty wack... american serama are starting to look like OEGB more and more...

but do i wish i could have UK OEGB though... LOL...

Exactly!! In my opinion, Type is more important the color! I dont understand why there has to be one set color for Serama! why can we just let them be unique and throw whatever color they want! Knowing what color you get would be nice but I like the suprise factor more!

I'd like to see your proof of this.

That is my OPINION, I would like to see you PROVE serama DONT have oegb in them....If you know much about color genetics, you would understand how making GOOD Golden Duckwing in old english game bantams is difficult, which have been bred to meet color standard for years, and now I am seeing pretty good color in Golden Duckwing in Seramas....as I said, my opinion, like it or not...

yup... or japanese bantams in there too... i noticed that a ton of them have the "creeper" gene... which is also in the japanese bantam standard... so somehow, that gene was introduced and people are trying to breed it out...

plus, i've seen some black tail buff serama that look identical to japanese bantams...

just sayin'...

On the contrary, I think some "serama" DO have OEGB in them, as I pointed out on page 2 when I said one of the birds at the beginning of this topic looked OEGB-ish. Remember?

Even the Malaysians can not come up with one correct type for the Malaysian Serama.

They change type every couple of years.

Having no set standard is just another excuse for poor breeding. mho

If you can not duplicate it you have one of a kind and that will not fly in exhibition open shows.

Backyard breeders with all the answers that can not cut it in open competition.

Just as I stated previously, everyone has their own opinion.
