I set 18 Serama eggs yesterday

I also set a dozen of my Americauna eggs and they will hatch a couple days after the Serama's so that will work out great I think. My 2 little cochin bantams are hatching some Americauna eggs for me too and we have 4 chicks so far. They are my first Americauna chicks and they are so gorgeous! Three are that golden color that looks like they have streaks of blonde to brown so I expect they will be the color off the rooster and the one hen. My other hen is black and there is one black chick too, so far. They are very nice chicks, healthy and active and these four are already scratching around with mamma in the coop.

I'm aware of the issues with hatching and rearing Serama's but hopeful. I bought these from a fellow member here, Mrs McKinney only lives about 8 miles from me as the crow flies and I didn't know her or know she is a member of this forum. I am looking forward to learning more about the Serama's.

Thanks for the well wishes. I know there are some issues with hatching and raising the Serama's. Any tips are appreciated. Right now they are in the incubator and I have to make myself not peek these first several days. I forgot to ask where the original Serama's came from that my eggs are out of, I believe they are from someone in this forum. We were visiting and looking at her chickens and the storm comin up so I'll ask her when I call her next week. I planned to call to let her know how they're doing in about a week.

I had already found the information you linked to, very nice, thank you. It had what I was looking for as far as learning what to breed toward. I will keep any of these chicks until they're old enough to grade then probably keep a rooster then look for a couple of mature hens that are correct.

I think I read that they mature a lot younger than other breeds. Does that just mean they lay eggs younger? I still have a lot of reading to do.
