Looking to get a couple? of Seramas to keep in an inddor coop run and let them outside when we have time and weather allows. We already have 6 chickens for eggs but really like the Serama breed and my wife loves birds in general and we do not have dogs or cats.....just grandkids..lol Any advice, pics or suggestions would be great.

i have pondered building an indoor aviary for a little D'Anver we have that seems to be extra susceptible to mites. We bring her in every so often for treatment and keep her in a flight cage. i have seen very nice professional grade metal aviaries, mainly used for outside and super expensive. But i suspect you could construct a large pen from hardware cloth and 2 x 2's. Actually, you wouldn't really need hardware cloth if it's an indoor thing, just chicken wire. i actually love having birds inside, although they can get a little stinky.

Sorry i don't have anything concrete to offer in the way of pictures of finished indoor pens. But i know there are folks on here that keep birds inside. Hopefully someone will come along with pics. In the meantime, maybe do a search on indoor chickens. i would personally love to see some set-ups myself.

Thanks for advice and input. I am searching the internet for ideas. Nothing yet but will continue to look.....

I have several indoor serama.. They are kept in my basement in their kennel cages with slide out trays. Recently bought the Ware coops at Tractor Supply with the run out pen that attaches to it. I plan on placing them in backyard just out the basement doorway for a turn out pen in the daytime. I have shade cloth and will cut pieces to fit the top of pen. I bought mine on sale for 99.00 ea. less a15% off coupon making them 85.00 ea. I stained them well to hold up under the weather conditions.
In Winter I will just use the coops in basement. You might check into those at your farm stores.
I would not attempt to purchase from the many places that sell coops online. Shipping can be expensive as well as they overprice the coops to begin with!

Thanks for info lilchick. Will look into that and also heard about using rabbit hutches. I thought about building my own about 4ft wide x 2ft deep x 3ft tall for roosting and then letting them run around the yards for playtime during the day. Still just beginning this whole Serama process.

Going to build my own for the space I have....I will post pics when I start...Keep any ideas or advice coming...

I picked up some info from a local breeder to use 9" sq nest boxes not 12" or 2 or more will try to squeeze into it. Drew plans up....
