Hey all! I bought four pair of young Serama about two months ago or so, four pullet and four cockerel. When I got them, they had this gross smell to them and their poop stinks something awful. I thought maybe it was the food they were being fed or dirty housing and it would dissipate after some tlc. But it still lingers. They smell and their poop is horrible, way worse than normal chicken poop.

I’m going to have a spa day and give them all a good bath before the weather starts getting cold. But my boyfriend said maybe they have some worms or a parasite and maybe I should treat with ivermectin. I haven’t found a similar thread or post so I figured before acting, I’d look for advice.

All behavior is normal, they don’t seem sick or anything wrong at all. All advice welcome! TIA.

Do you have a vet who will run a fecal float on some fresh droppings to look for worms or coccidia, other parasite? Call ahead and collect them in a clean freezer bag. You can try some probiotics for a few days and then a couple of days a week. What are you feeding them?
