Hi all, first post but long time lurker!
I know they're still a bit young but any ideas? Number 3 has only just developed a comb in the last couple of days and is 2 days older than the other 2, I thought he was a pullet up until today and that comb now has me stumped!
Number 1 to me seems like it is a cockerel. The color seems a little bit off for it to be a cock though, so maybe i'm wrong. But number 1 has the rounded crest that pullets don't have. Number 2 may be a pullet, and number 3... idk. Number 3 could be a cockerel, since it has that roundish comb.
They are all so cute! But it is a little early to tell. I think you have some Roos in there, but if you wait around a week, I can tell you for sure. Thanks!
You need to wait another week or two to be sure on the gender. Because they are still a little young. Sometimes hens can have larger combs, but they don't redden like that of a boy. I'm so sorry you have to rehome him!
Thank you for your help. I am still unsure about the black one as although he got his comb early there is no redness yet. He is just the sweetest little bird. When can I expect to see redness on the comb/beak?
I will visit my local breeder and go for a couple of birds that look most like pullets out of the bunch (pale beak/little or no comb). They should be about 8 weeks by then so I will hopefully be able to pick a couple of hens and no roos.
Attached a photo I took last night of the little black one
When they're done feathering, take pictures of them standing like you did for the dark one. There are clues in the feather colors/patterns that won't show if you cover them with your hand.
