I have had a mix of large fowl layers and gentlemen for several years. Local daddy fox has me down to 2 2 1/2 yr old hens that didn’t lay for months last winter. My last 4 hens were bought as pullets and never tame like my first batch of chicks. I am pretty much starting over with fun stuff, seramas and silkies. I would like to add a very few for eggs and perhaps a boy for them. I want friendly chooks who will mingle well with S & S’s. Originally wanted Polish for adorable appearance but lately have seen that favorolles might be a better option.
Suggestions?

Polish and faverolle may mix well, but every bird has it's own personalities. I would pick a bantam for the rooster.

For good layers, I've heard Orpingtons are very gentle... as well as Australorps. You could also go with a sexlink hybrid.
All should be pretty happy if they're raised in the brooder together. My flock is small, but I had no trouble rearing 3 Brown Shavers with my white Silkie hen. They have 'never' bullied her and have been mixed since 1 week old.
